Background & story

Jewellumination is an illumination using LEDs in gemstone-inspired colours developed by Motoko Ishii's lighting design office; the name joins "jewellery" and "illumination" and is a registered trademark of Yomiuriland Co., Ltd. It began in 2010, and 2026–2027 is its 17th season, under the grand theme "LIGHT is LOVE" with a new sub-theme each season.

Yomiuriland Jewellumination 2026 "Growing Light" runs from Thursday 29 October 2026 to Sunday 4 April 2027 — 138 days excluding closed days (planned) — at the Yomiuriland amusement park in Inagi, western Tokyo. The lights are on from 16:00 to 20:30 (hours vary by period). Park admission only costs ¥1,800 for adults; the After Pass (entry from 15:00 plus unlimited rides) costs ¥3,100. It is produced by lighting designer Motoko Ishii, began in 2010 and is now in its 17th season. Everything below was checked on 2026-10-13 against the operator's press release (Yomiuriland Co., Ltd., 25 August 2026) and the official website.

If riding the illuminated Ferris wheel matters to you, read the "excluded attractions" note on the official price page before you buy.
  • The official price page also lists separate, official online prices for tickets bought through the park's "Yomiland CLUB" membership service. Check them before buying.

What is new this season

This season's sub-theme is "Growing Light". According to the press release, it focuses on green as one of the earth's treasures and uses light to express the life force of plants as they sprout, grow and spread their leaves.

  • A new colour, "Growing Green Jewellery Colour": a new colour modelled on green gemstones, the first new colour in two years. It decorates the trees and rides in the Jewellery Plaza, the open square just inside the entrance.
  • Walk inside the Grand Sanctuary: the symbolic light sculpture that transforms the athletic area of the Pool WAI. From this season you can walk through the inside of the sculpture.
  • Fountain shows: in the wave-pool area, a show combines video projected on a 15-metre-high ring-shaped water screen, 226 fountain jets, lasers and flames. The official site lists three shows this season: "La Fontaine", "Growing Light" and "Silhouette". This season's show times were not yet published on the official site as of 2026-10-13 (the fountain-show page still shows last season), so check on the day.
  • The Sky-Go-LAND Ferris wheel lit as the "Jewellery Grand Objet": the east face uses 14 jewel colours inspired by a diamond's brilliant cut; on the west face the upper half is lit gold and the lower half pink.
  • Other areas: the tree-lined "Jewellery Promenade", the "Crystal Passage" light tunnel, the "Jewellery Stream" on the lazy river, and the "Luxury Wall" in the Goodjoba!! area, redesigned this season around sunlight filtering through leaves.
  • Green electricity: the official site states that 100% of the electricity used for the event is green electricity, a practice that began in 2021.

How to get there

  • Keio Line: from Keio-Yomiuri-Land Station take the Sky Shuttle gondola up to the park. The official access page recommends the gondola for visitors coming from the Shinjuku direction and notes that in winter you can look down on the illumination from the air (¥300 one way, ¥500 return).
  • Odakyu Line: from Yomiuri-Land-mae Station take Odakyu bus route Yomi 01 (shown as 読01) (bound for Keio-Yomiuri-Land Station) and get off at the "Yomiuriland" stop.
  • By car: the official site asks drivers to head for the amusement park toll gate (car park A-1). Parking fees differ by car park, and the car parks open from 7:30 until 30 minutes after the park closes. On weekends and holidays the car parks get very crowded and you may be directed to an overflow car park further away.

Tips before you go

  • No lights on weekdays in early March: from 1 to 12 March 2027 the park runs daytime operation only on weekdays, with no Jewellumination.
  • Closing time changes by date: the press release gives 16:00–20:30 but adds that hours vary by period. Check the day's hours on the official calendar, and the fountain show times on the official Jewellumination page, before you set out.
  • Watch for closed days: there are closed days inside the season (for example 12 November).
  • Language: the official website can be switched to English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese and Korean as well as Japanese.
