How to cite this data

If you reference these figures, please cite: "Japan-Event Festival Calendar Database, Japan-Event (japan-event.info), data as of July 16, 2026." We update the underlying database continuously — for a live count, use the JSON feed above rather than a cached figure.

Methodology

Counts include every event-type page in our database with a confirmed or provisional start date on or after the pull date, across all regions and cities. "Free" means the event's own ticket data marks admission as free; paid events include everything from ¥600 museum tastings to ¥24,000 banquet-course dinners. We do not include events whose only source is an unverified single mention — see our editorial policy for our two-source verification standard.
