Background & story
Launched in 2009, Roppongi Art Night is a city-wide art festival by Arts Council Tokyo and local institutions, designed to make contemporary art accessible all night.
Roppongi Art Night 2026 runs all night, from 17:00 on Saturday, October 31 to 6:00 on Sunday, November 1, 2026 — the first all-night edition in three years. It spreads across Roppongi Hills, the Mori Art Museum, Tokyo Midtown, Suntory Museum of Art, 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT, the National Art Center, Tokyo, the Roppongi shopping streets and other spots in the neighborhood. Three time windows
- Installations (Oct 31 10:00 – Nov 1 22:00): works placed around the streets can be seen from Saturday morning to Sunday night, so you can scout them in daylight.
- Core time (Oct 31 17:00 – Nov 1 6:00): performances and night programs cluster here, and this year it runs through the night.
- Extended display (to Nov 8): some works remain on view for another week.

The all-nighter is back
According to the official overview, Roppongi Art Night started in 2009, modeled on Paris's Nuit Blanche, and 2026 is its 15th edition (2011 was cancelled after the Great East Japan Earthquake, and 2020–2021 because of the pandemic). The executive committee chair's greeting says the festival had not run past midnight in recent years since the pandemic, and that the all-night format returns this year. A Tokyo Metropolitan Government release (August 19, 2026) and Bijutsu Techo also report the first all-night edition in three years.
RAN Focus 2026: France
"RAN Focus" spotlights one country or region each edition, and 2026 features France. It is co-produced with the Paris arts center CENTQUATRE-PARIS and curated by its former artistic director José-Manuel Gonçalvès (official RAN Focus page; Bijutsu Techo). The Tokyo government release says seven artists active in France take part. Names confirmed by both the official site and the press release include:
- Yoann Bourgeois Art Company — Opening and Passage (パサージュ), using trampolines and rotating stage sets (press release)
- Yvan Clédat and Coco Petitpierre — Les Baigneurs (The Bathers; Japanese title 水浴), a performance on the bathing scenes of modern painting (press release)
- Charles Pétillon — WA
- Olivier Grossetête — a giant cardboard building constructed together with participants

Getting there and getting home
- Nearest station: Roppongi Station on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line and Toei Oedo Line. The National Art Center, Tokyo connects directly to Exit 6 of Nogizaka Station (Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line) and is about a 4–5 minute walk from Roppongi Station (the museum's access page). For the other venues, the official access page links to each facility's own directions.
- After the last train: the core time lasts until 6:00. The official access page has a notice for visitors about getting home after the last train. Check last- and first-train times with your rail line.
- Halloween night: October 31 is Halloween. Expect Roppongi to be busy at night and agree on a meeting point and route in advance.

- Scout by day, watch by night: installations open at 10:00 on October 31. Find them in daylight, then spend the evening on the timed performances.
