teamLab Planets TOKYO in Toyosu is a barefoot, body-immersion digital-art museum where you wade through knee-deep water, walk on soft and mirrored floors, and become part of the artwork. Tickets are timed and start from about ¥3,200 (varies by day, as of July 2026); a visit takes roughly 90–120 minutes. Wear knee-length shorts — trousers get wet — and the best news of all: after early plans to close, it's officially open until the end of 2027.

What it is

teamLab Planets is not a museum you look at — it's one you walk into. You take off your shoes at the entrance and spend the whole visit barefoot, moving along a single guided path through a sequence of immersive rooms. In one, you wade through knee-deep water filled with projected koi that scatter into flowers when you move. In others you sink into a soft, springy floor or stand in a mirrored infinity of falling light.

Because there's one clear route, it's easy to follow and genuinely family-friendly — no map-reading, no wondering where to go next. It's also one of the most photogenic places in Tokyo, so allow time to linger.

There's also a Garden area you can enjoy with shoes on: a living moss garden and a floating room of real orchids. In early 2026 the venue was expanded (roughly doubled), adding kid-focused zones — an Athletic Forest and Future Park — so it now works even better for families.

Good news: open until the end of 2027

If you've read that Planets was "closing" — that information is out of date. The venue was originally slated to close at the end of 2023, but it was officially extended to run until the end of 2027 (announced August 2023). It has been extended before and could be again, but as things stand you have until the end of 2027 to visit. Don't rush a botched trip on bad intel — but don't put it off forever either.

Hours & tickets

Hours vary by season, running roughly 8:30/9:00–22:00, with last entry 60 minutes before closing. Tickets are timed-entry and pricing is dynamic, so always confirm your exact date and time on the official site.

What to wear (important!)

This is the one thing people wish they'd known: you will get wet. You wade through knee-deep water, so wear or bring knee-length shorts — long trousers will soak. Skirts and dresses aren't ideal for the water area either. Practical tips:

 • Shorts or roll-up trousers are ideal — long trousers will soak in the water area.
 • Lockers and rinse facilities are provided, so bring a small towel if you like.
 • You'll be barefoot in the Water area; the Garden and Forest areas can be done with shoes.

Getting there

Planets is remarkably easy to reach. The nearest station is Shin-Toyosu Station on the Yurikamome line — take the North Exit and the venue is directly outside, about 1 minute away. From Toyosu Station (Yurakucho line) it's about a 10-minute walk. Address: teamLab Planets TOKYO DMM, 6-1-16 Toyosu, Koto City.

Planets vs Borderless

Tokyo has two teamLab museums and they are very different experiences. In short: Planets is barefoot, water and body-immersion on a single photogenic path (great for families, ~90–120 min), while teamLab Borderless in Azabudai is shoes-on, dark and exploratory, with artworks that wander between rooms and no fixed map (~2–3 hours).
