The organiser has said it will run no second round of entries and no waiting list. The only route it still names is Yuzureru, RUNNET's official bib-transfer service, which lets runners who entered on RUNNET pass their place on. Its window is October 3, 2026, 0:00 to November 14, 2026, 23:59 (Japan time). It has limits. You need a RUNNET account (RUNNET is a Japanese-language site), and a separate Yuzureru fee is charged on top of the entry fee (RUNNET help). Neither RUNNET nor the organiser says whether overseas residents can use it, so ask RUNNET or the organiser before you count on it (checked 2026-10-13). The race rules forbid any other bib transfer and any running in someone else's name. If either is found, the runner's start, time and awards are cancelled.

The course: flat and point-to-point

The organiser describes the course as flat, with little change in height, so it suits first-timers and runners chasing a personal best. It says changes made for the 2019 race gave it the smallest height change in the event's history. The route starts in the centre of Aoi Ward and runs along the embankment road of the Abe River, which the organiser names as a viewpoint for Mount Fuji. It then follows the coast road in Suruga Ward, facing the Pacific, and finishes in front of JR Shimizu Station in Shimizu Ward. Because the course is point-to-point, you finish about a city's width from where you started, so plan your return from Shimizu. Provisional cut-off times for each checkpoint are in the entry guidelines. The organiser will publish the final times from late January 2027.

Getting to the start and back from the finish

  • Start: the official FAQ puts the start area about 15 minutes' walk from JR Shizuoka Station and about 10 minutes' walk from Shin-Shizuoka Station on the Shizuoka Railway. Shizuoka City Hall's Shizuoka Building is at 5-1 Otemachi, Aoi-ku.
  • Finish: the east exit of JR Shimizu Station. The official FAQ says the finish area is next to JR Shimizu Station and close to Shin-Shimizu Station on the Shizuoka Railway, so there is no shuttle bus.
  • Parking: there is no event parking. The official FAQ suggests nearby paid car parks or public transport.
  • Road closures: the 2027 traffic-restriction notice had not been published when we checked on 2026-10-13. Watch the official site.

Bibs, bags and race goods

  • Overseas residents (RunJapan entries) collect in person. The organiser's English regulations say bibs with built-in timing chips, baggage drop bags and other race items are handed out at Shizuoka City Hall on Saturday, March 13, 2027, and only the registered runner may collect them. Collection hours have not been published. Details will be emailed to the address you registered with (English regulations, checked 2026-10-13).
  • Japan residents (RUNNET entries) get them by post. The Japanese guidelines say there is no check-in at the venue and that the bib and baggage bag are posted about one month before the race.
  • Baggage: marathon runners hand in one bag at the start, and only items inside the official baggage drop bag are accepted. The organiser carries it to the finish. Bag drop at the start is planned for 6:45 to 7:45 a.m.
  • Participation gift: collect it on Saturday, March 13, near the Welcome Festa venue (RUNNET lists Shizuoka City Hall's Shizuoka Building as the planned site), 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Marathon runners can also collect it at the Shimizu finish area on race day, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Both are planned times. If you chose paid pre-shipping when you entered, the gift is posted to you before the race, separately from the bib (official FAQ A.19, Japanese; the choice cannot be changed after entry).
  • Finisher items: according to the official guidelines, every marathon finisher receives a finisher's medal and a finisher's towel.

Good to know

The marathon sold out on Oct 2, 2026, and there is no waiting list (checked 2026-10-13). RUNNET's Yuzureru bib transfer runs until Nov 14, 23:59 JST, but it needs a RUNNET account and a fee, and overseas eligibility is not stated. If you entered via RunJapan, collect your bib in person at Shizuoka City Hall on Sat, March 13. There is no event parking, so use public transport: start near JR Shizuoka, finish at JR Shimizu.

Frequently asked questions

When is Shizuoka Marathon 2027 and what time does it start?

Can I still enter Shizuoka Marathon 2027? Is it a lottery?
It is first come, first served, not a lottery. Marathon entry opened on October 1, 2026 at 8 p.m., and the 13,000 places were full by 1 p.m. on October 2. The organiser runs no second round and no waiting list, and RunJapan (the overseas route) shows entry as closed. The only route the organiser still names is RUNNET's Yuzureru bib-transfer service, open from October 3, 2026, 0:00 to November 14, 23:59 JST. It needs a RUNNET account and charges a separate Yuzureru fee, and neither RUNNET nor the organiser says whether overseas residents can use it. Japan residents can also try the general Fun Run entry (11.6 km), first come, first served, from October 16, 2026, 20:00 to November 12, 23:59. (Checked 2026-10-13.)
How much is the Shizuoka Marathon 2027 entry fee?
The marathon costs ¥16,000 for Japan residents and ¥23,000 for overseas residents. The Fun Run is ¥4,000, and the wheelchair race and the parent-and-child run are ¥2,000 each.
Where does the course start and finish, and what is the time limit?
It is a point-to-point course. It starts in front of Shizuoka City Hall's Shizuoka Building (5-1 Otemachi, Aoi-ku) and finishes at the east exit of JR Shimizu Station. The time limit is 6 hours, with 10 cut-off points planned. It is a JAAF-certified race on a World Athletics-certified course, and the organiser describes it as flat.
How do I get to the start? Is there parking?
The official FAQ says the start is about 15 minutes' walk from JR Shizuoka Station and about 10 minutes' walk from Shin-Shizuoka Station on the Shizuoka Railway. There is no event parking. The FAQ suggests nearby paid car parks or public transport. The finish area is next to JR Shimizu Station, so there is no shuttle bus.
Where do I pick up my bib?
It depends on how you entered. Overseas residents who entered through RunJapan collect their bib, timing chip and baggage bag in person at Shizuoka City Hall on Saturday, March 13, 2027 (English regulations, checked 2026-10-13). Hours will be emailed later. Japan residents who entered through RUNNET have no check-in, because the bib and baggage bag are posted about one month before the race. Collect the participation gift near the Welcome Festa venue on March 13 (11:00 to 18:00) or at the finish area on race day (marathon: 11:00 to 16:00). Both times are planned. The exception: if you chose paid pre-shipping when you entered, the gift is posted to you before the race, separately from the bib (official FAQ A.19).
