The most recent edition, the 19th in 2026, was held on Sunday 17 May 2026 (Osaka City press release, 6 March 2026), and the 2026 schedule was published on the official site on 19 December 2025.

- In 2026 the festa opened about 600 m of Sakaisuji Avenue in Osaka's Den Den Town to pedestrians, from the Ebisu-iriji intersection to the Nipponbashi 3-chome Minami intersection (Osaka City press release, 6 March 2026), and surrounding streets such as Nansan-dori and Ota Road were also part of the venue (Naniwa Ward newsletter, May 2026). Nearest stations are Ebisucho (Osaka Metro Sakaisuji Line), Nipponbashi (Sennichimae Line) and Namba (Midosuji Line / Nankai). Roads around the venue are closed on the day, so the organiser asks visitors to come by public transport (official venue map).

- In 2026 Sakaisuji Avenue was open for cosplay and photos 12:00–15:00, Ota Road 12:00–14:30, and the roadside event plazas 11:00–17:00 (official site and Naniwa Ward newsletter, checked 2026-10-11). The highlights are the opening stage event, the cosplay parade (taking part requires advance application and a fee) and the Nipponbashi maid & concept-café parade (official event overview); the Naniwa Ward newsletter for May 2026 also listed the cosplay parade right after the opening ceremony. In 2026 the official changing rooms ran 10:00–17:30 (some differed).
- How crowded is it, and what happens if it rains?
- The organiser reported 240,000 visitors in 2026 (official site, checked 2026-10-11), and the Naniwa Ward newsletter describes it as one of Japan's largest cosplay events. In 2026 the official event overview listed traffic control on Sakaisuji as 11:00–15:30 (Osaka City's press release gives about 11:00–15:30 for the closures on Sakaisuji and nearby roads); check closure times for Ota Road and other side streets on the official page https://www.nippombashi.jp/festa/gaiyo.php. The official overview says the event goes ahead in rain and is cancelled in stormy weather (Osaka City's release: held in light rain, cancelled in severe weather), with any cancellation posted on the official site.
