Each January, fireworks burst over Nara before the entire grass-covered Mt. Wakakusa is set ablaze in a spectacular winter ritual.

Origine & histoire
This centuries-old rite of burning Mt. Wakakusa is held on the fourth Saturday of January and is said to have roots in boundary disputes and pest control.
Bon à savoir
Dress very warmly and arrive early for a good viewing spot in Nara Park; the burning follows the fireworks.
